Housing for the Homies was created as a community-powered resource to help families and individuals navigate Minnesota’s complex affordable housing landscape, social service programs, and housing stabilization supports. Originally developed when housing navigation experts were helping neighbors one-on-one, the resource has rapidly expanded as community members take housing advocacy into their own hands.

Why Now?
With the Minnesota Department of Human Services announcing the intent to terminate the Housing Stabilization Services program, more than 21,000 households could be left without support. This abrupt policy shift has fueled demand for Housing for the Homies, as families urgently need accessible tools and coalition-driven support to stay housed. Seeds Worth Sowing is building partnerships with grassroots groups and community leaders to expand this resource and meet the moment.
